Google Adwords Audit and Optimization is the subject of Video 6. An Adwords Audit is not simple, but we provide a 16 point, step-by-step, watch over my shoulder video coverage of everything you need to do (don’t worry, the video is only 6 minutes long).
Video 7 looks at improving your Google Adwords Quality Score. We walk you through the 8 things you must know about Quality Score to not only improve your results but also lower the cost of your Ads. Some of these are obvious, some are not – like making sure your keyword is in the Title, Description and Meta Tags of your landing page. The Google Display Network is hotly debated, even amongst Google Adwords Experts. My personal feeling is that it is good for some businesses, but not all. Websites are like houses – they need firm foundations and they need careful preparation in the planning stage.
There are three major elements that you have to be very careful about. The first is the URL or domain name that you choose. If you put a website up like www.JoeBlogs.com, that tells neither Google nor your readers what your website is about. On the other hand, if you have www.24 houremergency plumbing.com, people know exactly what it’s all about and so do Google.
if you think of your website structure in terms of a filing cabinet – the domain name is the filing cabinet; the drawers within that are what we call categories; and the individual papers (your web pages) have descriptive names. You have to make sure that your website is harmonious so that it’s it’s all working towards the same purpose.
So for example, if you had a website www.videomarketingservices.com then your categories might be plumbers marketing videos, hairdressers marketing videos, vet marketing videos and so on – all things that work together to enhance the actual domain name itself – then Google and your clients know exactly what your website is about from the mix of those things.
The third thing is your keywords. You really need to get inside your clients head and say, “okay what would people search for?” Because if you have a great website, but no one ever sees it, then it’s not a great website. You need to have a website where people search on phrases that you have optimized your website for.
So in our “24 hour emergency plumbing” example, that would be one of your keywords – because if people look for that, they are looking for you in a hurry and they’re looking to buy. The other thing that you need to look at is that everyone is looking for the latest magic bullet that gets you into the top 30 in Google overnight; there isn’t one. The secret to Google is very very easy – just give Google what they want. If you try and fool Google, it may work for a little while but in the long run, it just does not work.
So – good interesting content, that is informative and helpful – that is what will get you high in Google. So let’s look at what we are going a guarantee for you.
